Consent, Age Verification and 2257: How Legitimate Adult Platforms Protect Performers

Behind every legitimate adult video is paperwork most viewers never see: proof that everyone on screen is an adult, agreed to take part and agreed to how the video is shared. Those records, and the checks platforms run on top of them, are what separate professional content from abuse. This guide explains how the system works in plain terms; it’s general information, not legal advice.

Consent starts before the camera rolls

Model releases

A model release is a written agreement between a performer and the producer. It confirms that the performer agreed to be recorded and sets out how the footage may be used, for example where it can be published and on what terms. Reputable producers have it signed before filming and check the performer’s ID at the same time.

Consent is specific and ongoing

A signature isn’t a blank check. In professional production, consent is:

• Informed: performers know what the scene involves and where it will appear.
• Specific: agreeing to one scene or activity isn’t agreeing to another.
• Freely given: there is no pressure, threat or deception behind it.
• Revocable during production: a performer can stop at any point, and a responsible set respects that.

When consent is missing altogether, as with hidden cameras, leaked private videos, so-called revenge uploads or sexual deepfakes of real people, the content is non-consensual, and legitimate platforms remove it. Verifying performers and uploaders

Every performer must be an adult at the time of production. Producers confirm it by examining a valid government-issued photo ID, recording the performer’s legal name and date of birth, and keeping a copy of the document.

Legitimate platforms that accept uploads add their own layer. They verify the identity and age of the person uploading, then require proof for everyone who appears, not just the uploader.

We publish only videos that come from established adult platforms and studios, which operate under their own verification and record-keeping obligations, and we screen every video’s information before it goes live. 18 U.S.C. § 2257 in plain terms

Section 2257 of Title 18 of the US Code is a federal record-keeping law for sexually explicit content. Together with Justice Department regulations (28 C.F.R. Part 75), it requires producers to:

• check each performer’s name and date of birth against a government-issued photo ID;
• record any other names the performer has used, including stage names;
• keep those records, with a copy of the ID, organized and available for inspection by the authorities;
• attach a statement to the content saying where the records are kept and naming the custodian of records.

A companion section, § 2257A, sets similar rules for certain simulated content. The purpose of the whole system is simple: for every video, someone must be able to prove that each performer was an adult.

Who keeps the records

The duty falls on producers. The regulations distinguish primary producers, who create the content, from secondary producers, who publish or reproduce it in certain ways. GIGAXXX is not a producer, primary or secondary, of the content on the site: videos are produced by third-party studios and producers, who must keep the required records.

Moderation and reporting on the platform side

Records only protect people if someone checks them and acts on problems. Legitimate platforms typically combine several layers:

• Verification gates: only verified uploaders can publish, and documents are checked before content goes live.
• Automated screening: many services compare uploads with databases of digital fingerprints, or hashes, of known abuse material.
• Reports and human review: anyone can flag a video, and trained staff decide what happens next.
• Escalation: apparent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is reported to the competent authorities; in the US, reports go to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), which works with law enforcement.
• Accountability: in the EU, the Digital Services Act requires notice-and-action systems, reasons for moderation decisions and a way to appeal them.

GIGAXXX applies zero tolerance to CSAM or anything sexualizing minors, non-consensual content, trafficking or exploitation, and content involving intoxicated or incapacitated people, among other things; our Anti-CSAM policy sets out the full rules.

Every report is reviewed by our team, and urgent ones involving minors or non-consent are prioritized. Illegal content is removed, apparent CSAM is reported to NCMEC and other competent authorities as required, evidence is preserved as the law requires, and we stop publishing content from the source concerned.

Age assurance for viewers

Checks on performers and checks on viewers are easy to confuse, but they answer different questions.

A growing number of laws require adult sites to confirm that visitors are adults, which is usually called age assurance or age verification. Common methods include:

• checking an identity document, often with a selfie match;
• estimating age from a selfie, without identifying the person;
• checks through a credit card or a mobile carrier account;
• reusable age tokens, where an independent provider confirms you’re an adult without passing your identity to the site.

The best designs are privacy-preserving: the adult site learns only that you passed, not who you are.

GIGAXXX has no age check at entry today. Where the law requires age assurance, we will use a compliant, privacy-preserving method, so we never see or store identity documents, and we may restrict access from some regions. Everyone must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where they live if that’s higher. Parents can add their own protection: every page carries the RTA label, which parental-control software can use to block the site.

How viewers can help

Viewers often notice problems first, which makes reports an essential safeguard.

1. Use the Report button. Every video on GIGAXXX has one, under the player. It opens a short form that goes straight to our team; you don’t need to give your name.
2. Say what worries you. Mention it if you think someone may be under 18 or didn’t consent; those reports are prioritized.
3. If it’s you in the video, use our contact form and choose Remove my content. Adults can also use StopNCII.org to create digital fingerprints of intimate images so participating platforms can block them, and Take It Down does the same for images taken before you were 18.
4. Don’t reshare, even to warn others. Every copy spreads the harm.

The bottom line

Consent documented in a release, ages checked against real ID, records kept under § 2257, moderation that acts on reports, and privacy-preserving age assurance where the law requires it: together, these are what make an adult platform legitimate. None of it works without people speaking up, so if something looks wrong, report it, and never reshare it.
